YouTube 'skippable' ads to affect corporate video? YouTube considering altering video content setup to allow consumers to skip adverts prior to screenings.
YouTube is considering altering its video content setup to allow consumers to skip adverts prior to screenings, whether a corporate video or something alternative.
While the move may seem like a sure-fire way to alienate the advertising community, some believe that allowing visitors to miss out adverts will actually benefit marketers, according to Softpedia.com.
The fear for many advertisers is that people might decide to not watch their creation - under the existing YouTube setup they have to if they want to watch the feature.
However, the news provider states that a person's decision as to whether or not to skip an ad will depend on its quality, with the better ones still getting views.
It states: "YouTube has found that some ads fare better than others in this context and the key seems to be the creative part. A good quality ad will not get skipped as much."
Furthermore, those who watch the ad are more likely to be from the right demographic.
