YouTube sees increased traffic in May Video streaming site attracted 17.4 million unique users last month.
YouTube has reaffirmed its credentials as one of the best places to post video productions as new statistics reveal traffic to the site increased last month.
According to the latest UKOM figures from Nielson, the video streaming site saw a three per cent increase in visitors in May.
This equates to 17.4 million unique users, nearly triple that of BBC's iPlayer, New Media Age reports.
Bruce Daisley, YouTube's head of sales, said the figures are an indication of the continued popularity of shorter video clips in the light of a recent rise in full-TV programme and film streaming.
"It just goes to show people aren't always watching full-length episodes on catch-up players," he told the news provider.
We've been told over and over that clips don't hold peoples' attention, but a lot of people come to the site to watch a clip and end up watching a full programme."
It was recently reported that there has been a surge in the number of people watching video productions on the internet in the US.
According to the Pew Research Center's Internet & American Life Project, 52 per cent of all American adults have used the web to watch video.
