An NHS viral video designed to stop young people from drinking too much on a night out has been banned by YouTube because of its graphic content.

The video shows a drunk woman urinating in public while being jeered at by a group of young men.

It is part of an anti-drinking campaign called Cocktales commissioned by the NHS in Derbyshire.

Another video released by the campaign, showing a drunk man being run over, is currently still available for viewing on the video streaming website.

Dr David Black, from Derbyshire County Primary Care Trust, told the BBC: "If you look at it, it is quite graphic but it's only what you might see on a night out in a town centre."

The Bloody Mary video received 15,000 hits in the eight days it was on YouTube and can still be viewed via the Cocktales website.

Another online campaign was recently launched by the NHS, aimed at getting people to give up smoking.

The Smokefree campaign combines online video with social media marketing tools such as an MSN blog.ADNFCR-2863-ID-19525314-ADNFCR
