Yahoo! overtaken by Facebook in US video rankings Facebook now second-most popular place to watch videos, after Google sites.
Internet users in the US now view more video productions on Facebook than they do on those owned by Yahoo!
According to the latest comScore video rankings for August, Facebook captured 58.6 million viewers during the month compared to 53.9 million for Yahoo!
It means that Facebook is now the second most popular place to view videos in the US, behind only those sites owned by Google, which include YouTube.
Facebook has been steadily closing in on Yahoo! in recent months, registering 46.6 million unique viewers in July compared to Yahoo!'s 55 million.
The report found that a total of 178 million US internet users watched online video in August for an average of 14.3 hours per viewer.
Google sites stayed well ahead of the competition, however, with a total of 146.3 million unique viewers.
It follows a recent survey by digital consultancy Beyond, which found that 46 per cent of US and UK consumers follow one or more brands through a social network such as Facebook.
