Web video and online marketing spend increase in 2009 The online video medium continued to grow in 2009.
Spending on advertising online has increased in 2009 despite the downturn in the economy.
That is according to the European Interactive Advertising Association (EIAA), which found that 83 per cent of marketers increased online ad spend.
It also discovered that 94 per cent planned on doing the same in 2010.
Video was discovered to play a big part, with a third of marketers suggesting that their spend on online video increased by 20 per cent.
Alison Fennah, executive director of the EIAA, said: "Online advertising is further consolidating its position as the medium of choice for marketers across Europe.
"Marketers still seek innovation with new formats such as mobile evolving and helping interactive media to emerge strongly as we all look forward to the upturn."
Other sectors of online advertising that saw a boost in investment included email and mobile.
In September the Internet Advertising Bureau claimed that the UK was the world leader for online advertising expenditure.
