VisitBritain launches new website featuring video productions New website aims to engage visitors with user-generated content and social media syndication.
Video productions form a central part of a new-look website launched by VisitBritain, the tourism board for Great Britain.
The new site looks to create further engagement with users by featuring user-generated content and social media tie-ins.
Video productions feature prominently and include the addition of a 'video of the month'.
Magazine-style articles on Britain's tourist attractions and interactive maps will further enlighten visitors to what the country has to offer overseas travellers.
The site has also added a series of photo galleries enabled via Flickr.
It aims to make use of the marketing potential of social media by making all content available for syndication and aggregation across a wide range of travel sites and blogs.
"Visitbritain.com regularly wins awards as the best national tourist office web site in the world," said Laurence Bresh, director of marketing.
"But we don't want to rest on our laurels - the new site moves even further ahead of the competition by fully embracing social media platforms, online video and personalised content."
UK tourism generates £114 billion a year and 2.7m jobs, according to the Tourism Alliance, a lobbying group for the industry.
