Virgin launches online movies on-demand Website that allows internet users to rent films for 48 hours has been launched by Virgin Media.
Perhaps looking to capitalise on the rising popularity of internet video productions, Virgin Media has launched a new movies-on-demand online service.
Whether a Virgin subscriber or not, anyone with internet access will be able to stream a wide range of movies directly to their computer or internet-connected TV.
The new site will use a rental business model, with customers able to watch the film for an unlimited amount of times over 48 hours.
Alex Green, executive director at Virgin Media said: "Virgin Media already offers the UK's leading movies on demand TV service and we wanted to bring the same high-quality, easy-to-use experience to film fans online."
It follows the recent launch of Virgin's music video streaming service. The company also plans to release a TV on-demand online channel in the near future.
The announcement comes after this week's publishing of the latest comScore Video Metrix which revealed that UK internet users viewed 5.5 billion videos online in February, a 37 per cent rise compared to the same month a year before.
