Viral video to be big marketing tool in 2010, say experts Use of viral video analytics will increase, says Advertising Age.
Digital marketing experts Advertising Age have predicted viral videos to increase in significance as an online marketing tool in the New Year.
However, they also claimed that viral video campaigns will become more sophisticated with a greater use of analytics.
"As online video consumption continues to rise, advertisers increasingly value viral viewings as a clear and visible sign that their campaigns are engaging audiences," said the publication.
"Rather than just place videos online and hope an audience will come, advertisers will invest in viral seeding strategies," it predicted.
Furthermore, companies will increase their use of social networking sites, such as Facebook, to promote their videos.
Another media expert recently predicted online advertising to see significant growth in 2010.
Eva Berg-Winters, digital media expert at professional services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers said digitisation has transformed business models and that this, along with the emergence of new marketing channels, will see online advertising expand in the coming years.
