Viewing YouTube video productions to become as 'easy as watching TV' Leanback, a new feature on YouTube, automatically plays videos based on users' preferences.
YouTube video productions could become even more popular under new plans by the site to recreate the TV viewing experience.
The video streaming service has announced the launch of YouTube Leanback automatically screens videos tailored to individual users' preferences.
Using information on users' YouTube accounts, including what their friends on Facebook have been watching (if the user has linked their Facebook profile to YouTube), the site will automatically select videos and play them continuously.
By doing this YouTube hopes to make it easier for visitors to the site to watch a large number of videos without searching for content.
"Just as its name implies, YouTube Leanback is all about letting you sit back, relax and be entertained. Videos tailored to your interests play as soon as you visit the site and they play in full screen and high definition, continuously," explained Kuan Yong, senior product manager, via the company's blog.
"There's no need to click, search, or browse, unless you want to, of course. Watching YouTube becomes as easy as watching TV."
The site has also announced that YouTube Mobile, its service for mobile devices, now receives more than 100 million video playbacks a day.
