Video productions helping to boost interest in General Election Survey reveals online political activity increasing interest in General Election among young voters.
The web is helping to boost interest in the General Election thanks to the wealth of information available through video productions and other media.
A survey of 18-25 year-olds, commissioned by New Media Age and conducted by Lightspeed Research, found 46 per cent of those aged between 18 and 21 say that online political activity has increased their awareness of the election.
Similarly, 41 per cent of 22-25 year-olds think likewise, while 60 per cent of all those questioned look more favourably on election candidates if they actively use online channels.
Mark Hanson, Labour's new media strategist, told the news provider, "Online makes it easier for activists to campaign without the direct involvement of party headquarters and for voters to see what a candidate is really like through more use of video or to find the information that they need in order to make their decision."
Campaigning for the General Election is now officially underway after prime minister Gordon Brown announced yesterday (April 6th) that it will be held on May 6th.
