Video productions could improve email marketing New developments, such as HTML5, can help improve email marketing, it has been suggested.
Companies using email marketing could make use of video productions and other new techniques, it has been suggested.
According to Marketing Week, new advances in online media have expanded the range of options available to email marketing.
This means marketers can modernise their mailouts with enriched media, such as video.
Speaking to the news provider, George Nimeh, director for Europe and digital consultancy Iris, email is still relevant to modern marketing approaches.
"Compared to real-time social media, location-based marketing and other buzz-worthy stuff, email isn't very sexy. However, that doesn't make it irrelevant to the modern marketing mix," he said.
Part of the reason of this is the advent of HTML5, a newly developed web standard which allows video productions to play directly through a computer's internet browser with no need for an add-on, such as Adobe's Flash Player.
YouTube recently introduced a trial version of an HTML5-based video player.
