A leading media expert has predicted that online video will be a major component of marketing strategies in 2010.

Paul Frampton, managing director of Media Contacts predicted large growth in the online video sector next year.

"Video will be big in 2010. This year all the on-demand platforms got huge numbers of viewers but there was a lack of supply. Next year we'll see 25 per cent growth" he said.

Mr Frampton made the comment to New Media Age following the results of their Top100 Interactive Agencies guide, an annual survey of the leading media agencies.

The report found that display budgets are set to grow by six per cent and search budgets by nine per cent in 2010.

"A key area for display growth in 2010 is video, with the emergence of services such as SeeSaw and Hulu, as well as the evolution of existing properties like YouTube," New Media Age said.

Earlier this year, it was announced that spending on online marketing went up in 2009. According to the European Interactive Advertising Association, 83 per cent of marketers increased online ad spend.ADNFCR-2863-ID-19518634-ADNFCR
