Video production search engine launches targeted advertising blinkx to monitor video viewing behaviour to target advertising.
Companies that use corporate videos online may benefit from a new tool launched by video search engine blinkx.
The company has added a behavioural targeting element to its AdHoc advertising platform, something it says will improve video for both the viewer and advertisers.
It will track the video consumption patterns of those who use the search engine over a period of time.
These can then be matched to one or more predefined profiles so that relevant adverts can be delivered to the user regardless of what video they are watching at that time.
"Our technology gives us a significant advantage by enabling us to truly understand our audience and the value is clear: targeted advertising yields better performance for the advertiser and a better experience for the viewer," said Suranga Chandratillake, founder and chief executive of blinkx.
blinkx uses speech recognition technology to identify the audio transcript of videos as well as other criteria to match them search requests.
