The viewing of national and international news on the internet by young adults in America has surpassed television for the first time ever according to a new survey by the research group Pew.

The more traditional medium remains popular amongst adults over thirty with 66 percent citing television as their main source of news. However, this is down by 17 points from a 2007 surgery which shows that the internet is making ground in older groups.

Also stated in the report by Pew is that television remains the highest source of information for less educated and less wealthy individuals with 75 percent of individuals who fall under this category citing the Internet as their main source of news. Pew states that when a households earnings is $75, 000 or more 54 percent cited TV as their main source of news. This is in opposition to households earning less than $30, 000 who were 72 percent television watchers.
