The Guardian seeks to 'harness the power of YouTube' Newspaper asks readers to upload YouTube videos putting forward their ideas on political parties' manifestos.
The Guardian newspaper has recognised YouTube video productions as an important tool in spreading a message to a wide audience.
Following the recent announcement of a date for the next General Election and the launch of the three main parties' manifestos, the newspaper has begun a campaign to allow the public to put forward there own proposals.
It is encouraging readers to upload videos to its YouTube channel, expressing their thoughts on the different manifestos and what they would like to have seen included.
Journalists from the newspaper will also be posting videos of their opinions.
"This is a chance to make your voice heard. The Guardian is harnessing the power of YouTube, the world's biggest online video community, to come up with an alternative programme for government. One that's drawn up by you," the newspaper reported.
Social media, and in particular YouTube, has already played an important role in the run up to the May 6th election.
Labour has chosen to post part of its manifesto online in a series of video productions on the video streaming site while the leaders of the three main parties are due to take part in a YouTube debate later this month.
