Survey highlights growing importance of Facebook to marketers Poll finds that 46 per cent of people follow one or more brand via a social network.
A new survey has suggested that Facebook may be a good place for marketers to focus their video production campaigns.
According to the poll by digital consultancy Beyond, 46 per cent of 2,500 US and UK respondents follow one or more brand through a social network with 23 per cent saying they would prefer to receive information from a company or brand through Facebook.
The same proportion said they prefer marketing via direct mail, ahead of the company's own website (21 per cent) and the company's blog (three per cent), reports Marketing Week.
"Our research indicates that digital marketing requires a much more integrated strategy that runs across the entire company, from sales through to customer service," Beyond EMEA managing director Nick Rappolt told the news provider.
"It requires a convergence of thinking and an approach to deal with user-generated content."
Half of those surveyed said they follow a company on a social network to receive special offers or discounts, while 34 per cent do so for the love of the product.
It was recently reported that Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg now has an estimated personal wealth of £4.4 billion, according to Forbes magazine.
