Small firms urged to increase web presence Effective online strategies are key to small businesses' success, an expert has claimed.
Small businesses could consider online video productions as a means of increasing their web presence which, according to one expert, is vital for their success.
Writing for the BBC, Howard Graham of the business support consultancy Made Simple has urged small businesses to expand their online operations.
Mr Graham claims that being online not only makes transactions easier and cheaper, it also acts as a means to attract new customers who may not otherwise be aware of the company.
He said: "It can drive traffic to us of the type we want. No need to randomly advertise in mass media and rely on responses that in themselves are immeasurable."
However, for this to work companies must make full use of the internet to maximise their visibility.
"Those who do have business websites are in many cases offering little more than online brochures, and so often, are impossible to find unless someone actually types them in by name," Mr Graham added.
Good websites are constantly changing to generate leads and provide measurement tools and in many cases are integral part of a business' overall strategy, he said.
Professional services firm Deloitte recently predicted a significant growth on online advertising spend in 2010.
