Small businesses increase online marketing spend Conversion rates increasing on almost all website actions, says report.
UK small businesses are increasing their spending on online marketing, some of which may be earmarked for video productions.
According to new figures from WebVisible, businesses in both the UK and US increased the amount they spend on online marketing in the second quarter of the year.
In particular, US small businesses spent 159 per cent more on search marketing compared to the previous three months.
Meanwhile, UK companies spent more on cost-per-click (CPC) – the amount the company pays to a search engine for each click on an advert.
CPC in the UK rose by 5.4 per cent on Google, 4.7 per cent on Yahoo! and 3.7 per cent on Bing, while click-through rates increased for the former and dropped for the latter, the report found.
"Over the past year, conversion activity increased on almost all website actions - filling out an online form, watching a video, bookmarking a page or printing driving directions," noted WebVisible chief executive Kirsten Mangers.
A recent report by eMarketer revealed that online advertising spending increased in 2009, growing to $55.2 billion (£36.2 billion).
