Sky launches video productions for iPad iPad app released by Sky as the new device goes on sale in UK stores.
The long-awaited Apple iPad went on sale in the UK for the first time today (May 28th), bringing new opportunities for video production users.
BSkyB has already moved to exploit the likely popularity of the new device with an app to bring video content to its users.
The Sky Mobile TV iPad app has been designed to take advantage of the increased screen sized of the tablet PC as opposed to smartphones and offers a better bitrate.
It will bring a range of sports and news videos to the iPad for a £6 monthly fee for existing Sky TV subscribers.
Emma Lloyd, director of mobile, says: "With millions of iPhone and iPod touch users already enjoying rich video services from Sky, we're delighted to once again set the pace by being one of the first UK broadcasters to embrace the iPad."
Sales of the iPad are expected to be high in the UK, as they were in the US, despite prices starting at £429 for the 16GB Wi-Fi model.
