Public 'have got to be engaged through digital channels' Digital media expert praises use of video productions in political campaigns.
Digital channels such as video productions are one of the best ways to engage with the public, an expert has claimed.
Rhys Williams, a managing partner at media buyer agenda21 digital, argues that it is not just the youth demographic that responds to digital media.
Commenting on the recent announcement that the three main UK political parties are to engage on an online debate, Mr Williams said: "They've got to be engaged through digital channels."
"I think it's quite interesting what they're doing through sending emails and its interesting to see how they link through to YouTube channels, Facebook pages, Twitter pages. I think it's vital they just can't not be there."
In the online debates, Gordon Brown, Nick Clegg and David Cameron will post video responses on YouTube and Facebook to questions posed by members of the public.
Labour has also used YouTube to present their manifesto for the forthcoming General Election, posting a series of summary videos explaining the key points.
