Online video productions recommended for home builders

Home builders have been advised to use online video productions to help showcase new properties to prospective customers.

Dawn Sadler, founder of Builder Target, an online resource for new home marketing ideas and information, says consumers often expect companies to provide them with video information on properties.

"Today, buyers are looking for more than online tours when researching a home purchase. They need instant access to reliable information about the housing market. Builders are responding with videos that address specific buyer concerns," she said.

Ms Sadler adds that home builders are increasingly using more informational videos to educate potential buyers.

For example, some have uploaded YouTube videos featuring homeowner testimonials, responses to changing housing trends, information about financing for first home buyers, and condensed versions of an on-site sales presentation.

"Creating a wide distribution of real estate videos online drives more traffic to a home builder's website, increases new online sales leads, and contributes to higher sales office traffic and sales," she commented.

Home builders may also want to consider creating videos targeting mobile users, with new figures from comScore revealing that the number of people in the UK watching videos via mobile devices has risen 75 per cent in the past year.
