Online video production popularity increases in the US Video and social networking see significant growth in latest Nielsen figures.
The amount of time US internet users spend watching video productions has risen significantly in the past year, it has been revealed.
New figures by Nielsen show that in June this year, Americans dedicated 3.9 per cent of their time spent online to watching videos, a 12 per cent increase on the same month of 2009.
It means the average American web user spent three hours and fifteen minutes watching online video productions during June, while the number of videos streamed passed the 10 billion mark for the first time.
Social networking sites and blogs also saw a significant gain in popularity in the 12 months to June 2010.
US consumers now spend 22.7 per cent of their internet time on such sites, up from 15.8 per cent a year ago.
According to UKOM figures, UK internet users now spend 23 per cent of their time on blogs and social networks.
