Online sales up 13 per cent Valentine's Day boosts online sales in February.
Video production users may have seen a rise in online sales in February, a new report suggests.
An estimated £4.1 billion was spent online last month according to the latest IMRG Capgemini e-Retail Sales Index.
This represents a 13 per cent rise from the £3.6 billion spent in the same period last year.
The growth was fuelled by sales of health and beauty products, footwear, accessories and lingerie in the lead up to Valentine's Day, said the report.
Chris Webster, vice president of retail consulting and technology at Capgemini, said: "The growth of less traditional sectors in February paints an optimistic picture of consumers picking themselves up following the doom and gloom of the last couple of years."
Multichannel retailers outperformed online-only firms and managed to increase the rate at which website visits were converted into purchases by 11 per cent.
These results could be down to an increased focus on marketing, with Ray Jones, head of communications and external affairs at the Chartered Institute of Marketing, saying recently that more marketers than ever are now on the boards of FTSE 100 companies.
