Online marketing 'well placed' to capitalise on recovery Digital is "increasingly central" to marketing, says expert.
Video productions and other forms of internet marketing look set to grow as the economy recovers, it has been suggested.
According to eMarketer.com, while advertising in the UK slumped during the recession, internet marketing managed to buck the trend.
UK advertisers spent £3.54 billion online in 2009, an increase of 5.7 per cent compared to the year before. This growth is expected to accelerate in 2010.
Because of the strong interest on advertising online during the recession, it means that once the economy improves even more companies will look to the internet to market their brands, eMarketer.com claims.
"The web has emerged from the recession with impressive momentum," said Karin von Abrams, eMarketer senior analyst.
"The Internet's reputation for delivering ROI (return on investment) is intact, even enhanced. Digital, in all its forms, is increasingly central to all marketing activities and consumer behaviour."
Earlier this month, eMarketer predicted similar growth in the US market. The researcher claims online advertising spending will reach $25.1 billion (£16.9 billion) in 2010, representing 10.8 per cent growth over last year.
