Online driving advertising spend growth ZenithOptimedia revises 2010 global advertising growth forecast upwards to 2.2 per cent.
Online media, in particular video productions, is driving a growth in global advertising spend, it has been announced.
ZenithOptimedia has revised its 2010 global advertising growth forecast to 2.2 percent, up from its previous estimate of 0.9 per cent made in December.
Beyond this, it predicted spending growth of 4.1 per cent in 2011 and 5.3 per cent the following year.
At the heart of this increase is internet advertising, which is set to expand its market share from 12.6 per cent of advertising spending in 2009 to 17.1 per cent in 2012.
It said that online video would grow especially quickly to make up 32.2 per cent of internet ad expenditure by 2012.
"Confidence in the global economic recovery, while tentative, continues to grow, and this improvement has been apparent in ad markets across the world," ZenithOptimedia said in a statement.
It follows a recent report from the Internet Advertising Bureau and PricewaterhouseCoopers, which found year-on-year online video advertising spend in the UK had grown by 140 per cent in 2009.
