New TV channel to use online video productions ahead of launch KidsCo.tv to be main marketing platform for new children's TV channel.
A new TV channel for kids is to turn to online video before it hits television screens.
KidsCo is to launch later this year with programming targeted toward six to ten-year-olds.
But before going live it will develop its KidsCo.tv website to become the lead marketing platform for the channel's programmes, New Media Age reports.
Teasers to upcoming shows will be available on the website, as will interactive activities and games for children.
Paul Robinson, managing director of KidsCo, told the news provider: "We're positioning our site as family friendly and one parents are comfortable kids are going on.
"It'll become a proper community, with user-generated content. The goal is to make it much stickier and get kids coming back. We're aware we don't have enough return visitors among children at the moment."
A recent survey by the Association of Online Publishers found that media owners are expecting to seea growth in revenue in 2010, partly fuelled by an increase in the use of online videos.
