Mobile video productions could provide new opportunities for marketers Powerful new mobile devices are an attractive platform for advertisers, it has been claimed.
Internet-connected mobile devices such as smartphones could be a lucrative platform for marketers using video productions, it has been suggested.
According to ABI Research practice director for mobile marketing strategies Neil Strother, the increasing popularity and performance capabilities of such devices are making them increasingly attractive to marketers.
"The trend starts with smartphones, which have reached critical mass among US mobile subscribers," he said.
"These powerful devices, coupled with affordable data plans, enable people to search, browse, and watch video in ways and in volumes that have become more and more attractive to marketers."
Along with text messaging and search advertising, he highlighted video productions as one of a number of ways marketing messages can reach mobile users.
A recent study by advertising research and analysis provider Borrell Associates found that mobile marketing reached $2.7 billion (£1.8 billion) last year and is expected to grow 84 per cent annually, hitting $57 billion (£37 billion) by 2014.
