Mobile internet the future of online video? Media viewing expected to rise among mobile internet users, says expert.
Online video productions from sites such as YouTube could be more accessible from mobile phones in the future, it has been claimed.
According to Natasha Stokes, editor of Mobile Choice, video is one of the areas that will become more popular with smartphone users as the technology improves.
She said that mobile phones will be used more and more in the coming years for things like social networking, news and product information.
"I think that will expand though, as mobile internet becomes more accessible, faster and available on a wider range of handsets, to include banking and media such as TV and YouTube," she predicted.
Her comments follow a report published last week (February 4th) that revealed which websites consumers had been accessing most via internet connected mobile phones.
The Global System for Mobile Communications Association and comScore study found that the most popular site was Facebook, followed by Google sites, which include YouTube.
In all, 16 million people in the UK spent a total of 4.8 billion minutes online using their mobile phones in December 2009, said the report.
