Marketers advised to integrate social media into campaigns Expert says brands should integrate social media with online and traditional advertising
Social media, which can often provide a good platform for video productions, should be integrated into marketing campaigns, it has been suggested.
According to Tim Gibbon, co-founder and editor of news provider the Social Media Portal, over the past five years there has been a "huge shift" in online marketing as brands turn their attention to social sites such as Facebook and Twitter.
However, Mr Gibbon claims that the best way for companies to use social media is to incorporate it into their other marketing activities.
"Some brands are wisely beginning to integrate their social media, online and traditional advertising so that their approach is more seamless," he commented.
"One example of this are brands beginning to print their Facebook and Twitter URLs in receipts, so that consumers become more aware of their presence within these environments."
A recent ComScore report found that Facebook is now the third most popular site in the US for viewing online videos, behind Google and Yahoo! websites.
