Kellogg's to move to social media marketing Cereal company announces digital marketing of new product to be done exclusively through social media.
Kellogg's has become the latest in a string of big brands to announce a move to social media marketing and away from campaign sites.
The company said it will market its new cereal, Krave, using social media only, such as video productions on YouTube, Advertising Age reports.
It follows similar announcements from Coca-Cola and Unilever.
Furthermore, a New Media Age poll recently found that 69 per cent of its readers think that social media is better for running a campaign than than traditional campaign sites.
However, social media may not be the best place to post video productions for every brand.
James Nunn, brand communications manager for P&G Grooming and head of the FMCGs UK social media strategy in the UK, told the news provider: "Each campaign needs to be individually assessed before deciding which medium to go on. It's not a blanket approach but social media does work for some brands."
A recent Deloitte report claimed that the digital advertising sector is set to grow substantially over the next few years, outstripping the growth in the rest of the advertising industry.
