ITN uses YouTube to expand global reach German language showbiz channel launched by news content provider
News content provider ITN has turned to video productions on YouTube in an effort to expand its international reach.
The company has set up a channel on the video streaming site that provides showbiz news in German, making use of the internets ability to reach audiences around the world at a much lower cost than television.
It will add to the range of YouTube channels ITN already operates, stretching across news, showbiz, music, books, video gaming and fun content, all in English.
"The launch of our German showbiz channel is a fantastic example of ITN adapting an already successful product on YouTube for a new territory," said Mark Browning, the ITN commercial director. "We have the capability to create, localise and tailor our content to work in any market and on any platform."
Last week, Marthin De Beer, senior vice president of emerging technologies at Cisco said the company expects that 90 per cent of traffic on the web will be dedicated to video by 2019, V3.co.uk reported.
