Household cleaning sprays could cause asthma, expert warns

Photo for this news articleExpert says measurability of social media makes it ideal for marketing.

It has been suggested that social media could provide an attractive platform for companies looking to use video productions as part of their marketing strategy.

According to Tania Jackson, managing director at campaign strategy consultant Red Idea, using sites such as YouTube, Facebook and Twitter to post marketing content is a "big hit" at the moment.

This is because, in comparison to traditional media, it is easier to measure how many people have accessed the content, Ms Jackson said.

"If you advertise in a magazine or a newspaper you often have to hope for the best," she explained.

"But if you use social media, have an online planning strategy and back that with Google Analytics showing how many clicks came through your social media then it's easier to know where that money has come from."

Her comments follow last month's Third Annual FedEx Office Signs of the Times Small Business Survey from FedEx Office and Ketchum.

It revealed that 36 per cent of small businesses in the US are looking to grow by making use of social media sites.
