Google increases US video production market share Sites owned by Google account for 43.2 per cent of US online video views in April.
Companies looking to reach US consumers may want to consider using video productions on Google-owned sites, in particular YouTube.
New figures from comScore have revealed that the search engine giant increased its online video market share in the US during April.
In total, US Internet users watched 30.3 billion online videos during the month, 13.1 billion of these (43.2 per cent) were on a Google site with YouTube making up the vast majority of these.
In second place was TV show streaming service Hulu followed by Microsoft sites in third.
Google also came out on top in terms of unique viewers watching videos on its sites, with 136,279 separate users, watching an average of 96 videos each.
In contrast, Yahoo! Sites, which garnered the second highest numbers of unique users, only managed to attract 49,496 video viewers, watching 7.5 videos each.
YouTube was bought by Google in November 2006 for a sum of $1.65 billion (£1.13 billion).
