Facebook becomes third most popular site for video productions in the US New data reveals that the popularity of Facebook as a source for online video is increasing.
Social networking site Facebook has become the third most popular destination for video productions among US web users, it has been revealed.
According to comScore's Video Matrix report for July, over 46.5 million unique users watched video productions on Facebook, taking it ahead of Microsoft sites which registered 45.5 million users during the month.
However, Google sites, which include video sharing site YouTube, still account for by far the greatest number of video viewers with more than143 million unique visitors.
Yahoo! sites came in second place with around 55 million different people using them for video productions in July.
In total, 178 million US internet users watched online videos during the month for an average of 14.7 hours each.
This accounts for 84.9 per cent of the total US internet audience.
It was recently announced that Channel 5 is set to become the first UK terrestrial broadcaster to embed online video productions on Facebook.
