Expert outlines key to viral video success Viral video must be relevant, entertaining and concise, it is claimed.
Viral video productions can be a great marketing technique, it has been claimed.
Matt Owen, social media producer at Econsultancy, argues that viral video can be cheap to distribute, not too expensive to produce and can boost search engine rankings.
Furthermore, consumers are comfortable with the medium as the popularity of YouTube and similar sites shows.
In a blog post, Mr Owen outlines what he believes to be the key to viral video success.
This includes producing a video production that is relevant to current trends and news.
The video must also be entertaining and concise in order to capture and hold the viewers' attention, he says.
Another factor to consider is search engine optimisation, and Mr Owen recommends using key words in titles and meta-tags.
Above all, he says, video is a creative medium.
"If you can present your product in a unique or amusing way then it will have a far greater chance of going viral," the marketing expert writes.
YouTube recently extended its maximum video length to 15 minutes, giving more options to viral video production users.
