Video productions feature prominently in a new online campaign by Drinkaware to tackle the problem of Brits drinking too much while on holiday.

As the summer months approach, the charity has teamed up with holiday operator Club 18-30 to promote responsible drinking abroad.

Under the campaign slogan "Why waste your weekend being wasted?" the organisation's website will provide a range of advice around the problems caused by drinking too much.

These are supplemented by a series of video productions, which are also available on YouTube, featuring young adults sharing their holiday experiences and tips.

Drinkaware will also be providing training on the subject to Club 18-30 holiday reps.

Research conducted by alcohol awareness group shows that that two thirds of 18-24 year olds cite being on holiday as a trigger for drinking to excess.

Chris Sorek, chief executive of Drinkaware, said: "Challenging the culture of Brits boozing abroad is a difficult task and tackling the preconception that you must drink to have a good time on holiday is the starting point."

Each year around 33,000 people in the UK die of alcohol-related causes.
