Digital publishers eye mobile internet opportunities Survey reveals publishers of online content see big opportunities in mobile devices.
Mobile internet devices could be the current technological trend providing the biggest opportunities for firms using online video productions, it has been suggested.
According to the latest Content and Trends Census from the Association of Online Publishers (AOP), UK publishers of digital content see mobile devices, and in particular the iPad, as central to the industry's development.
Half of AOP members polled currently deliver content via mobile apps, with one in six providing them on the Apple iPad.
Some 72 per cent of publishers operate on mobile sites while a further 25 per cent expect to provide mobile sites in the next 12 months.
In total, nine out of ten respondents see businesses opportunities in mobile computing developing over the next year.
Other areas of opportunity identified by the survey include high-speed broadband and social networking.
Lee Baker, director of the AOP, said: "This year, the Census has shown the diversity of business models used by publishers - they've embraced new technologies and platforms to interact with their audience to operate on a global platform."
This week saw the launch of the BlackBerry PlayBook, a new tablet computer that could rival the iPad's dominance of the market.
