Corporate video productions set to benefit from rise in free media content, expert suggests The head of Hulu has expressed his confidence that consumers will continue to turn to the internet for video content.
Businesses may increasingly make use of online corporate video productions as they look to cash in on the fact that consumers are moving away from TV to the internet.
In a new interview, the chief executive of US-based video-sharing site Hulu has expressed his optimism that the movement towards viewing videos online rather than through traditional television sets will continue for some time yet.
Speaking to Dow Jones, Jason Kilar explained that it is likely that in the next decade the majority of media content posted online will be free to view, including top TV shows and movies, with this made possible by the inclusion of more advertising.
At the same time, however, he suggested that businesses looking to tap into the benefits of online video productions should continue to look towards laptop-using consumers rather than smartphone users.
"Smart phones provide a lot of useful functions and people love them, but they can't replace a laptop," Mr Kilner noted.
At the start of June, comScore reported that Google-owned sites, including YouTube, accounted for 43.2 per cent of all online video viewings made by Americans in the month of April.
