Corporate video productions 'a near necessity' Online marketing expert says video productions are becoming an increasingly common way to boost sales.
Companies seeking an edge in their online marketing activities should make use of corporate video productions.
That is according to Paul Verna, a senior analyst at online marketing research and analysis company eMarketer.
Writing in an article on the company's website, emarketer.com, he argues that more and more retailers are adding non-advertising video productions to their websites to drive sales.
"In this sense, video has gone from a luxury to a near necessity for companies seeking an edge in marketing their products," he comments.
He cites a recent study by Multichannel Merchant which found that 46 per cent of US multichannel retailers use video on their sites while another 42.3 per cent said they planned to add video in the next year.
"Companies across a wide spectrum are finding ways to use video in their marketing efforts, and consumers are embracing - sometimes demanding - these changes," writes Mr Verna.
Online video is also becoming increasingly popular with advertisers.
A recent eMarketer study estimated online video advertising spending will grow more than 48 per cent in 2010, adweek.com reported.
