Coca-Cola viral video production top of the charts Company's first ever viral-only ad is a big success.
A viral video production from soft drink maker Coca-Cola has finished top of the Guardian's viral video chart.
The weekly chart put the Coca-Cola Happiness Machine video at number one for the week ending January 24th.
Released two weeks ago, the video shows a magical Coca-Cola vending machine that dispenses endless free drinks and other treats to a group of US college students. It is the company's first ever viral-only ad.
Compiled for the newspaper by Unruly Media, the rankings are based on the viral dissemination of both brand-driven and user-uploaded videos across social media.
They take into account the velocity of citations a video receives, based on real-time analysis of over 50 million blogs and microblogs, and the number of times they are viewed and commented on.
Other videos to make it onto the list include an ad for Star Wars-themed Adidas gear, featuring David Beckham, Snoop Dogg and Daft Punk.
Coca-Cola recently announced that it was abandoning campaign websites and would instead turn exclusively to social media to promote its products.
