Best Buy launches online video production ahead of entry to UK market US consumer electronics giant uses video and social media for marketing campaign ahead of UK store opening.
Best Buy, the US consumer electronics retailer, has launched a comprehensive online marketing campaign, including video productions, ahead of opening its first UK store.
A new website was revealed to coinside with the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week, Marketing Week reports, but will not be ready for transactions until spring when the first store opens.
As well as YouTube videos, Best Buy's online marketing assault includes a social media campaign on sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Flickr.
Content on the site and social networks will include videos, blogs and images and store information.
"Our website, along with our Facebook page, YouTube page and Twitter profile, all give people a way to talk to us and hear about our brand, our company and plans for a spring launch," DeVere Forster, managing director online at Best Buy UK.
Using social media videos as a marketing tool is something many experts recommend.
Recently, Andreas Roell, president and chief executive of American marketing agency Geary Interactive, claimed the technique could boost search engine optimisation by creating a buzz amongst social networks.
