BeatBullying video production heads to internet after TV ban Clearcast says video of girl stitching up her own mouth is too brutal to be shown on TV.
A new video production from the BeatBullying anti-bullying charity has been launched on YouTube after it was banned from appearing on television.
The controversial ad, which is 40-seconds long, features a young girl stitching up her own mouth.
TV regulator Clearcast deemed the video too brutal for young audience so now BeatBullying has decided to post it on YouTube as well as screen it at Cinemas during films rated 12A and over.
The video is designed to promote the charity's CyberMentors service, a social networking site for children and teenagers looking for support.
Emma-Jane Cross, chief executive of Beatbullying, said: "We are proud of this advert and the way it makes you stop and understand the impact bullying can have on its victims.
"But we were disappointed that Clearcast refused to let this advert go onto TV. We know that 69 per cent of young people have been bullied and it's imperative that people know cybermentors.org.uk is there to give them support."
Bullying at work has reached record highs, the Mirror recently reported, and psychologists have said that this is due to bosses coming under increased stress because of the credit crunch.
