BBC overhauls news website Video productions given greater prominence in website redesign.
The BBC has enhanced its video production offerings as part of an overhaul of its news website.
Video productions have been given greater prominence across the site, faciltiated by a larger, faster video player.
Other changes include links with social networks such as Facebook and Twitter which allows users to recommend articles to friends.
In a blog post, Eric Huggers, controller of BBC Future Media, said that there had been "major behind-the-scenes work" on the broadcaster's production system which will allow it to more quickly to new technologies and user preferences in the future.
"This is part of an ongoing process to make BBC Online feel like one coherent service, rather than a disjointed collection of websites, which is greater than the sum of its parts," he added.
The BBC was recently given the go-ahead by the BBC Trust, which governs the company, to develop Project Canvas – an attempt to provide internet-hosted programming direct to TV sets.
