Adults spend 14.2 hours per month on the web, says Ofcom New report reveals nearly half of consumers' waking hours spent using media devices.
Internet video productions could be seen as an even more effective marketing tool following new statistics that reveal the extent of media consumption in the UK.
According to figures from Ofcom, the average UK adult now spends a total of 14.2 hours per month on the web.
That is an increase of over two-thirds compared with 2008 levels.
The communications watchdog's annual Communications Market Report also revealed that mobile devices are now providing a new and increasingly popular way to access the web.
As of June this year, over a quarter of people in the UK (26.5 per cent) said they had a smartphone, more than double the number two years previously.
In addition, surfing the internet via mobile phones is the fastest growing mobile media activity with one million new users during the first quarter of 2010 taking the total to 13.5 million.
Altogether, UK consumers spend almost half (45 per cent) of their waking day using media through internet, TV, mobiles and other devices, said the report.
