172 million people in America Watch video per month Online viewership stays roughly the same for video in 2010
According to online video statistics gatherer ComScore 172 million Americans watched online video in November 2010.
Google video (Youtube) as suspected came out on top in all statistical categories such as unique viewers and viewing sessions and there were no surprises with Vevo, Facebook, Viacom all taking places in the top 5.
The question to now ask is has the peak been reached? After enormous jumps in 2008 and 2009 in the audiences viewing online video 2010 stayed relatively stagnant in terms of growth. Some experts say that the "On-Demand" services of additional television companies and the continued popularity of instant iTunes and Netflix movies will push numbers forward in 2011.
Predicted to be the largest category of growth in 2011 will be viewing of content of mobile devices as tablets become increasingly popular and available to the masses as well as the widespread adoption of 4G or 'wimax' technology.
