Video productions to dominate the internet, says Cisco Cisco expects 90 per cent of internet traffic to be dedicated to video by 2019.
The future of the internet will be dominated by video productions, Cisco has claimed.
According to the firm's senior vice president of emerging technologies Marthin De Beer, video will be the principal internet technology for both consumers and businesses, V3.co.uk reports.
Speaking at Cisco's Networkers Live event in Barcelona, he said that the company expects that 90 per cent of traffic on the web will be dedicated to video by 2019.
"We believe that the future of collaboration will be in video as the next generation of networks will enable its use in areas such as education, healthcare and entertainment, providing businesses with the ability to communicate more efficiently," he said
Cisco used the event to give the first demonstration of its new transcribing software. The technology allows key words within a video to be searchable rather than just the video itself, boosting search engine optimisation.
New figures released by comScore show that interent search engine use rose by 46 per cent in 2009.
