Video content optimisation 'the first step'

A search engine optimisation (SEO) expert has spoken about the benefits of online video marketing.

Greg Jarboe, the author of YouTube Marketing – an Hour a Day, spoke to Grant Crowell from ReelSEO.com about how to utilise SEO with video.

Mr Jarboe said that the video marketing sector was crucial as "there are more videos watched a month than there are searches conducted on all of the search engines".

He added that only the best videos get a high number of views and warned about the danger of "lame" content.

"There's more to video marketing than just optimising video. There's community outreach, there's blog outreach, there's good content that's going to go viral – not boring content."

However, Mr Jarboe added that video optimisation was "the first step".

Last week, Rachel Hawkes from media consultancy Elemental suggested that adding keywords to videos will "serve as a cross-sell, up-sell tool".
