Universal search to affect Google SEO Inclusion of live updates from social media and other sources will change the way SEO is conducted, claims marketing director.
Companies that use video production marketing could find they have to adapt their search engine optimisation (SEO) strategy due to Google's Universal Search feature.
Universal Search is the aspect of the search engine that displays real-time results from a variety of sources, such as news and social media networks like Twitter.
It was recently announced that this has now expanded to include MySpace, suggesting Google is looking to make this a more prominent feature of its search engine.
According to Sam Tilston, marketing director of memorybits.co.uk, this can have a big impact on SEO.
"The challenge with universal search is that, whereas before search marketers could focus on on-page SEO and building links to sites to improve their search positions and drive traffic, they now have to create content and build links to web properties that are included in Google's universal search," he said.
One way companies may consider doing this is with video productions.
Writing for PromotionWorld.com recently, Nick Stamoulis, president of US search engine marketing company Brick Marketing, video can boost SEO performance "tenfold".
