Online video will become an increasingly important marketing tool, says expert Senior analyst at eMarketer believes more videos will show up on search engine results in 2010.
Companies will increasingly turn to online video as part of their marketing strategies, an industry analyst has said.
David Hallerman, senior analyst at eMarketer, believes the "twin booms" of video streaming and video advertising will fuel online marketing in the future.
"Further support for video ad growth will come from sites that offer a deeper catalogue of professional video content," he said.
Mr Hallerman also outlined the importance of video search engine optimisation (SEO) and the increasing role it will play in the industry. "Another key change to speed up in 2010 will be more video results as part of general search queries," he said.
The expert suggested that the development of search engines will help to realise this. In particular he pointed to social networking and communication sites such as Twitter as being importance.
By filtering real-time information from such sites, search engines will be able to provide more relevant results, allowing advertising to be better targeted, he explained.
Last week it was announced that Twitter was the most popular word of 2009. The Global Language Monitor survey looked at words used in the media and on the internet to reach its decision.
