New-look Google could help corporate videos' SEO performance Google redesign adds content-type suggestions relevant to search query.
Online corporate videos could become more effective as a means of search engine optimisation (SEO) thanks to a redesigned Google search page.
The search engine giant from today (May 6th) is added a new function that it hopes will make it easier for users to find the information they are looking for.
A new panel has been added to the left-hand side of the search results page which displays the most relevant content types such as video, photos and shopping.
Clicking on one of these will display results for that content.
In addition, another new feature will suggest other terms similar to the one searched for so that users can research a topic more broadly.
Speaking to the BBC, Danny Sullivan of Search Engine Land welcomed the changes.
"They are clean, clear and easy to use and I think it will encourage users to explore those specialised options they haven't noticed before," he said.. Google itself is still one of the most popular places on the web to view video productions.
According to the latest comScore Video Matrix, 5.5 billion videos were viewed online in the UK in February 2010, 2.5 billion on Google sites - which include YouTube.
